Topic Three: Assignments
Due Dec 15 – Bloom/Gardner Grid
Please use the attached template.  Chose a unit of study that is broad enough to think of many activities to teach. If you have already decided on a capstone, try to use an area of study related to your capstone. Fill in the squares using an activity that meets both the multiple intelligence and the level of Bloom’s Taxonomy in which it intersects. A sample has been provided.  I expect 80% or more of the grid to be completed.

Welcome to class. 
In Murrieta, I will be using Windows Movie Maker to make a vodcast.  Please join me in class to learn how to make your own vodcast.  You will be expected to create one or two vodcasts in the course of this class.  If you are familiar with Windows Movie Maker, IMovie, PhotoStory3 or any other movie maker, you may complete this class completely online.

Topic one- Multiple Intelligences
Please watch all three videos by our peers about the three Multiple Intelligence Domains.  These videos should be posted by Tuesday evening. Readings, Videos and Lessons
Topic One: EDUC 522 
*Website: Please visit the class website.  Be sure to read the syllabus, blog and calendar.  The blog will be updated every week for class.  The calendar will also be updated weekly. 

*Facebook: Please join our Facebook group,

Respond to our first discussion. 
Post an introduction of your self.  Include your name, where you work and what you teach. Add two interesting facts about yourself.  Please post 2-4 pictures that relate to who you are.  Do not forget to label the pictures.  Also include whether you have a PC or Mac.

*Vodcast. Each week 2-4 students will present. We need to present in a way both sets of student can be a part of the presentation. We can create a PowerPoint for our presentation and post it for the other to see or we can try to Vodcast.  It is easier than you think!!!  And much cooler than a PowerPoint.  I have a conferencing website that you will be invited to be a part of Tuesday night. You will be invited to Dim Dim at 5:30pm.  I will demonstrate Windows Movie maker. 

*Skype setup: Please set up a Skype account.  We will be using Skype next week. We will Skype in together on Nov 24th at 6pm.  If you do not have a Skype account, please create one. Go to www.skype.com to create an account. If you already have a Skype account, please send me your username via email by Saturday, Nov. 21st. If you don't have a Skype account, please create one and send me your username by Saturday, Nov. 21st. My Skype username is nicolmalone.

 Next week
I need three volunteers from Orange County!  The students in Orange County will present first.  The information is very available online and easy to research.  The Murrieta students will present later so I can share my books. I would like to share my books so no one needs to buy the texts unless they would like to.  I need a presentation on the Multiple Intelligences Domains. (Interactive, Introspective and Analytical)  You can create PowerPoint and email it to me or post it on a website such as slideshare.  I suggest you make a Vodcast. Everyone will be presenting eventually.

 

 
 
Fall II Educ 522 Learning in the 21st Century.
This class will be an interesting mix of technologies and distance learning.
I have 6 students enrolled in the class at the Murrieta campus and 5 students enrolled in the exact same class at the exact same time at the Orange County campus.  This will be fun.
The first Tuesday, Nov 17th,  I would like to meet the Murrieta students in class. After that first meeting, you will have the choice to attend classes face to face or use the online options avaliable to the Orange County students.  I will be at the Murrieta Campus every Tuesday.  It is just too noisy at my house.  You may or may not attend.  I will be providing course readings, discussion and assignments via email, Skype, Dim Dim, and Vodcasts.  This unqie hybrid of distance learning, live web meeting and face to face meetings will expose us to a wide variety of technologies.
I have sent out the first email to all of the students I know to be enrolled.  I was given everyone's email address through APU.  If you do not check your APU email address on a daily basis, please provide me with an email address that I can use to reach you.
