Ooooopps!!! Ryan was kind enough to point out our Vodcast has two due dates. (May 1st and May 8th). This is completely my mistake so please chose the due date that works best for you. Please note: this week, your weebly website is due and next week your self assessment is due so the Vodcast needs to be done while working on those two assignments.

Welcome to the second week of class.  Everyone did a great job on the first week.

You are working on creating a website/blog.  (You will need a website or blog that supports video and documents and has an RSS feed.  If you already have this with another host, you do not need weebly)  Go to
www.weebly.com and create an account and a site.  Your site will need a home page, a blog and a About You page. Weebly can support You tube videos, allows you to upload documents and can be used by an RSS feed. Please email me your new weebly site address when you are finished. (No later than Sat., May 1)

Your first Vodcast assignment is to research a specific intelligences and share with the class what you learned.  Below is a list of who is assigned what intelligence.

Christian Arteaga   Linguistic intelligence ("word smart"):
Lynese Hall   Logical-mathematical intelligence ("number smart")
Andrea Lee    Spatial intelligence ("picture smart")
Demond Little
Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence ("body smart")

Guadalupe Aguilera Musical intelligence ("music smart")
Jesus Herrera Interpersonal intelligence ("people smart")
Esteban Lara Intrapersonal intelligence ("self smart")
Ryan Thompson Naturalist intelligence ("nature smart")
Diana Bloom's Taxonomy

According to our first night, everyone seemed comfortable with the movie making software on their computers to begin.  Please feel free to ask for help when needed.

Your assignment is to create a vodcast to teach the class about the particular intelligence you have been assigned.  To begin, research your intelligence.  I need a definition and skills related to this intelligence, examples of teaching and learning best suited for this intelligence, examples of technology that could be used to address this intelligence.  You could also include famous people who represented this kind of intelligence or possible careers suited to this intelligence.  As you read and research also include anything you find interesting that you would like to share.

Once you have gathered you information, create a script.  It is helpful to pause where you believe you will have a picture change.

Collect photos and/or videos as well as music for your vodcast (a vodcast is really just a super impressive slideshow! )

Please remember Youtube will not accept a video with copyrighted materials. If you need help finding music and pictures you can use, please look to the following sites.

Music which is legal to use is available from these sites:

Please feel free to view any of the videos on our facebook page from previous classes.  I would suggest you take a look at a few of them and not just the one related to your assignment to compare quality.  (Not every video received an A)

When your vodcast is complete, please upload it to youtube.  If you do not already have a youtube account, please create one.  Once your video is on youtube, you can add it to the blog on your website/blog.  Please post it to your website/blog no later than May 1st.

Due May 8– Self Assessment
Please use the attached template.  Complete by describing evidence of each criteria met in your classroom and a self reflection on your teaching.  If you currently do not have a classroom, either describe a classroom you have worked in or your ideal classroom. A sample has also been provided.

I would like to try something new this term.  I am very excited about it but have not done it before so I nervous.  I hope I do not fail and look like a fool!!!  The only way to grow is to step out of your boundries, right?

We use facebook to discuss and post video.  It works very well but because you can not facebook at school, it is an application you can not apply to your classroom.  I have been trying to find a way to discuss topics and post videos that you could in turn use in the classroom with students.

Thanks to a new book I read, Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts and other powerful web tools for the classroom. by Will Richardson, I believe I may have a solution.

We will be creating our own blog and using and RSS feed to stay connected to everyone. (Who is very familiar with RSS feeds? If you are experienced, please let me know.)

The first thing we will need to do is put off making our multiple intelligence video for one week. The due date for the vodcast on a multiple intelligence has been changed to Sat., May 1 to Sat., May 8.

Instead, I would like you to create a website/blog using weebly.  (You will need a website or blog that supports video and documents and has an RSS feed.  If you already have this with another host, you do not need weebly)  Go to www.weebly.com and create an account and a site.  Your site will need a home page, a blog and a About You page.  This is a weebly account that is hosting our class website so you may use it as an example. Please email me your new weebly site address when you are finished. (No later than Sat., May 1)

Everyone is at different levels in technology skills.  It is my job to meet you at your level and coach you along.  If you are unsure, nervous or scared by any assignment, just send me a quick email or text.  I will do everything in my power to meet you where you are at and help you along.  DO NOT hesitate to ask me to do my job in making you feel comfortable.  I will assume you have a certain level of computer skill.  If you are not there yet..... I will be there for you!!!

I am looking forward to seeing your new websites/blogs.

For clarification, I would still like you to complete all of the facebook assignments for this week.

Week 9

Unit Plan is due this week.

Watch and discuss Claudia's video

Teacher Training videos.  http://www.teachertrainingvideos.com/general.html Please take a look at this site.  I think it a great find.  Spend some time exploring.  We will not have a discussion for this topic but I think you should bookmark it for future reference.

Our last discussion.  I would like some input on the online class.  I tried to make sure I was assessable and helpful to you anytime and all the time.  I also hope you felt connected with myself and the class.  Please let me know what you liked most about the class and the format of the class.  Also, help me out with some helpful criticism.  What could have made the experience better for you concerning not only how the class was set up but also what you learned?  I am have been trying some new technologies and websites to include some "realtime" discussions because I think that may be lacking in the class.  What do you think?

Apologizes for not getting to Power teaching or Whole brain teaching as I mentioned earlier in the class.  We just ran out of time!!!  I really like the strategies taught in Whole brain teaching.  Feel free to google it or watch the Vodcast by Michelle from Fall II if you would like to research it.

You all did a great job!!  I was thrilled to get to know you!!  Please email me anytime during your program and even after if needed!!! Let me know when you complete the program so I can send you best wishes

There a no assignments due this week.  You have turned in your self assessment, grid, lesson plan and rubric.  Next week is our last class and our last assignment is the Unit Plan.

This is my spring break so the assignments

Reaching consensus
Tim Bedley is a teacher in LakeElsinore.  He has some great teaching strategies and incredible videos and information.  Once of his teaching strategies is called “Reaching Consensus”.  We will read an article and look at some videos from his classroom.

Read Article http://www.timbedley.com/articles/article01.htm

Please be sure to watch a few videos concerning consensus as well as read the link at the bottom of the article named See a framework for the teaching strategy "reaching consensus."

If you have not already seen this video, please watch.
http://www.timbedley.com/video/vid_teach2.htm

Reaching Consensus on a Reading Assignment(5:08)
In this powerful video, you will see a small group of 5th graders reaching consensus on some comprehension questions. Notice how they dig through the text to support their answers. They were never instructed to do this, but because of the learning activity "reaching consensus," they automatically skimmed the passage on their own. Two of these students are English language learners.
The last half of the video is an interview with the students on the benefits of this teaching method. You'll love hearing these 5th graders insights.

Please comment on our discussion board about what you learned from Tim Bedley about Reaching Consensus.
